Dominic a NFL Colts Super Bowl Champion is 34 yrs young. I believe this statement by Jim Popp is worth considering before people start saying it is a bad signing.
"Dominic will bring veteran competition to the position. We love his attitude, he is playing for the love of the game," said Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp.

Montreal, March 27, 2013 - The Montreal Alouettes announced on Wednesday the signing of former NFL star running back Dominic Rhodes as well as cornerback Jordan Mabin to two-year deals with the club.

Rhodes (5'9", 205 lbs.) joins the Alouettes after spending the last decade in the NFL as a member of the Indianapolis Colts, Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills. In his eight seasons with the Colts, he notably helped the team win the Lombardi Trophy to cap the 2006 season, rushing for a game-high 113 yards while scoring a touchdown in the Colts' 29-17 Super Bowl XLI victory over the Chicago Bears.

"Dominic will bring veteran competition to the position. We love his attitude, he is playing for the love of the game," said Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp.

In his 10 seasons in the NFL, Rhodes amassed 3,286 rushing yards on 814 carries with 26 touchdowns while averaging 4.0 yards per run. Also a talented receiver out of the backfield, the Waco, TX native caught 147 passes for 1,025 yards and four touchdowns. Rhodes set an NFL record for rushing yards by an undrafted rookie running back with 1,104 yards in 2001. The now 34-year-old started every regular season game in 2006, while serving as a mentor for rookie tailback Joseph Addai, the Colts' first-round draft choice.

Rhodes played the last two seasons for the Virginia Destroyers of the United Football League, winning the championship in 2011 en route to being named the UFL's Offensive Player of the Year. On October 7, 2011, he etched his name in the league's record books following a 217 rushing yards performance on 18 carries, shattering the previous single-game rushing record of 147. Rhodes also that day became the first player in league history to rush for three touchdowns in a single game.

Mabin (5'11", 180 lbs.), rejoins the Alouettes after spending two regular season games last year on the team's practice roster in October. Following his departure from Montreal, he joined the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns' practice squads. The 24-year-old played in 51 career games with the Northwestern University Wildcats and ended his college career with 252 defensive tackles. The California native started all 13 games in 2010, leading the Big Ten in passes defended in 2010.

"We welcome Jordan back. He is definitely going to be in competition for a job. A very well-rounded player," added Popp." Charles Rooke
