Romby Bryant signing... c'mon man!
« on: February 05, 2011, 10:43:14 AM »
Reported to be a deal that moves him into the top-five highest paid receivers.  I know that free agency can be a motivator for a team to overpay, and it's not exactly like there are a lot of 1000 yard receivers out on the market this year, but is this guy in anyone's top-five list?

I'd be very curious to see what this does for the internal salary structure for the Stamps, as surely they've got to be paying Rambo and Lewis handsomely as well.  The Stamps, with this current regime, have been a pretty well run organization, but I really have to question this kind of a contract.  The guy had to want to stay around and be part of a high-powered offence and quality receiving corps and I'm hard pressed to believe he would've attracted offers much higher than this on the open market.

I agree. He's not top five by any means.

Was the report the top 5 receivers or the top 5 WIDE receivers? From your post, Rambo and Lewis would generally be classified as slots and as such wouldn't be in a top 5 WR list.

It was indicating that he'd be paid among the top-5 receivers.

When need and cap-space match up with timing and market demand, it can result in a wacky situation.
